Finding The Perfect Sports For My Personality

I have always loved to get outside and enjoy a little fresh air, which is probably one of the reasons I was drawn to recreation and sports in the first place. However, I quickly realized that there were a few different things that made me a great candidate to play sports, so I started talking with different teams about joining up. After I joined a community kickball league, I really became close to some of my friends that played with me. This blog is all about finding the perfect kind of sport for your personality, so that you can feel great and stay active.

3 Fun Nature Based Activities To Do On Your Ottawa Vacation

If you are planning on taking a vacation to Ottawa with your family and renting a cabin or cottage from a company like Snowbird Haven, here are three nature-based activities you should look into for your vacation time.

#1 Biking

If you want to explore the city in a unique way, there are numerous companies in Ottawa that rent bikes and helmets by the hour or by the day. One of the more popular places to take a bike ride is beside the Rideau Canal, which is a waterway that connects Ottawa to Kingston and is often full of boats during the summertime.

Another great place to take a bike ride with your family is along the Prescott & Russell trail if you are looking for a little more of a nature ride. The trail in whole is 72 km and connects Montreal to Ottawa. You don't have to ride the entire trail though; there are numerous entry points to the trail that allow you to bike small sections. Keep in mind that most of this trail is made out of stone dust, so it is more of a mountain bike ride than a city bike ride.

#2 White Water Rafting

If you live to get out on the water, you may enjoy taking on the Ottawa River, which includes some white water rapids that you can navigate. If you are not familiar with the Ottawa River, it is wise to hire a trained guide to take you down the river so you can learn how to navigate the white water rapids. Keep in mind that every river is different and just because you have navigated white water rapids before doesn't mean you know the best way to navigate this particular set of white water rapids. There are numerous companies that you can contact for gear, equipment and guides for white water rafting down the Ottawa River.

#3 Gatineau Park

Gatineau Park offers a full range of outdoor activities for you and your family to participate in all in one location. You can spend the day swimming, boating and fishing at Pink Lake or Harrington Lake. You can also learn about some local history while you explore Mackenzie King Estate located on the park grounds or one of the other historic locations within the parks boundaries. You can hike up to Luskville Falls for a picnic and a truly unique view and experience. If you want to explore a cave, Lusk Cave is open for tours and exploration. There are also lots of places to hike, bike and just enjoy the outdoors spread throughout Gatineau Park.

If you are planning a trip to Ottawa soon, make sure that you take advantage of some of its great outdoor activities as you enjoy your cabin stay with your family.
